Continue to Budhanilkantha Temple (Jal Narayan), Hindu open air temple dedicated to Lord Mahavishnu. Pashupatinath is the largest temple complex in Nepal stretches on both sides of the Bagmati River which is considered holy by Hindus.This Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva which is the fourth most important religious sites in Asia for devotees of Shiva.The temple has a gilded roof four sides covered in silver and wood carvings of the finest quality. Pashupatinath is also one of the very few living cultural heritage sites in the world.It is the centre of energy with active participation of people all times of the day every day. The big Maha Shivaratri festival in spring attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees from within Nepal and from India.

Budhanilkantha Temple - SIGHTSEEING



After breakfast, visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, the former palace of old Malla and Shah kings. It is place with ancient palaces with spectacular art and architecture of Newar people over the centuries. Visit Kumari Ghar where the living goddess resides and you are lucky you will get a glimpse of Kumari. Move towards northwest side of the valley to visit Swoyambhunath Stupa. Located on a small hillock, Swoyambhunath overlooks the Kathmandu city. Swoyambhunath means "the self-existent" is popular among foreigners owing to the large monkey population residing in the area. No wonder why it’s also called “Monkey Temple”. Continue towards, Patan Durbar Square, the center of fine arts. As you walk past the whitewashed gate, you enter a square lined with cafes, grocery stores and huge iron bells. Still beyond the alleys lie mostly medieval neighborhoods of the city. Temples and Stupas are in abundance, in various shapes, sizes and antiquity. Return back to hotel after the tour. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Besides the magnificent temples and shrines.Kathmandu Durbar Square never fails to impress first time visitors with its intricate wood carvings and rich history.

The stone temple of Batsala Devi has many intricate carvings. It is most famous for its bronze bell, known to local residents as 'the bell of barking dogs' as when it is rung, all dogs in the vicinity begin barking and howling ! The colossal bell was hung by King Ranjit Malla in A. D. 1737 and was used to sound the daily curfew. It is nowadays rung every morning when the goddess Taleju is worshipped.
